Cedar Grove VPA is a 294-acre area first leased in 2020 that provides deer, small game and turkey opportunities. There is no coyote or hog seasons on this property. Hunters utilizing this area for deer or turkey hunting should be sure to check their game using Georgia Game Check and select Public Land option, Laurens County, and then Cedar Grove VPA.
The Ceylon Wildlife Management Area is located in Camden County. This 27,000-acre property offers hunting for deer, turkey, small game and waterfowl. The entrance to the WMA is approximately one mile east of Exit 14 off of I-95. Learn more about recent acquisitions to the Ceylon WMA property.
Canoochee Sandhills WMA is located in Bulloch and Bryan Counties near Groveland, GA. This 10,224-acre WMA consists of a mix of sandhill, flatwoods, bay swamp, and floodplain forests that border Lotts Creek. Many of the sandy uplands on the area are remnants of ancient wind-blown river dune formations and provide important habitat for gopher tortoises and other animal and plant species considered high priorities for conservation.
Gaither WMA is a leased property, made available to the public through the cooperation of the Newton County Board of Commissioners for small game, turkey, and deer hunting. This 2,129-acre tract is located in Newton County has 2 regular deer quota hunts, and 1 youth deer quota hunt. The quota hunt application deadline has already passed for the season.
Lanahassee Creek Wildlife Management Area is located in the upper coastal plain physiographic region in west central Georgia near the town of Preston, and totals 4,420 acres.
Horse Creek WMA resides on just over 7,397 acres in Georgia's coastal plains. Home to the world record Largemouth Bass, which weighed in at over 22 pounds and was caught in 1932, Horse Creek offers a unique spot for visitors, hunters, and anglers alike. Hunting opportunities include deer, turkey and small game and waterfowl hunting in 2 impoundments.
The Ball's Ferry property is located in Toomsboro and is 525 acres. This property offers hunting opportunities for deer, turkey, small game and waterfowl. There is a boat ramp that can be used for fishing access. No camping allowed on the area.
Collins Road VPA is a 354-acre area that will provide both rabbit and bird dog training opportunities.
Hunt Dates & Information:
Rogers State Prison Farm Dove Fields is a 538-acre property near Reidsville. This area is open for dove hunting the first three Saturdays of dove season. No ATVs or UTVs allowed on the fields. Hunting is prohibited within 100 yards of a residence or 50 yards from county roads. This dove field is only open during quota hunt dates.
From Reidsville: Take GA Highway 147 approximately 6.5 miles to intersection with Highway 178. Turn left on Highway 178 and go 1.5 miles to dirt road on the right that leads to entrance of Field 1 and the parking area.
The 143-acre Pleasant Valley VPA is a partnership between the local landowner and the Georgia DNR, WRD to provide public hunting access. This annual lease provides adult child deer, migratory bird and rabbit/squirrel hunting opportunities. Hunters utilizing this area for deer or turkey hunting should be sure to check their game using Georgia Game Check and select Public Land option, Bartow County, and then Pleasant Valley VPA.
