Location: The Landings, Skidaway Island
These cameras have followed ospreys and great horned owls nesting beside the Palmetto golf course at The Landings, a community on Skidaway Island near Savannah. Using a nest built by bald eagles, the owls raised two owlets each in 2015 and 2016. Ospreys nested there in 2017. But only one of their three eggs hatched, and another adult osprey killed the chick. This year, ospreys are back. They laid an egg each on March 8, 11 and 14. Stay tuned!
Note: In September 2016, with the pine tree holding the two nest cameras dead and shedding limbs, operators at The Landings took down the cams, attached a bracket to support the cam on the nest tree, moved the second cam to a nearby pine and added a third cam to that tree. Two of the cams are streamed here; the third is available at The Landings bird cam homepage.
