Fishing - Black Rock Mountain State Park

Black Rock Mountain Logo

Black Rock Lake provides fishing for largemouth bass, bluegill, yellow perch and channel catfish. Rainbow trout are stocked during the spring and early summer. The Black Rock Trail loops around the 17-acre reservoir offering access to several places for fishing. The Turtle Rock fishing pier and boardwalk provide additional fishing options. Bass and bluegill are generally found along the shallow shoreline. Catfish, perch and trout are often located in deeper water. The hiking trail bridge at the west end of the lake’s dam provides good access to the cove it crosses. Another location worth a try is where Taylor Creek enters the lake. The park has limited fishing gear for loan but does not sell bait. Anglers older than 16 must have a valid fishing license. (Information provided by OnTheFlySouth.com.)
